Chapbooks & The Little Books Collective

The Little Books Collective is a community-building micropress that formed in 2023, when a group of 12 Lunenburg-area writers came together with the aim of helping each other create, revise, design, print, and hand-bind their own little chapbook. Another group of 12 did the same in 2024. Vanessa was fortunate to be a part of the collective both years. You can learn more about the collective here:

The middle of the meadow

The middle of the meadow is an exploration of how childhood events shape our handling of loss. In the namesake short story, a woman recalls small childhood memories which help her move through grief. The story is bookended by two poems and includes nine linocut prints of wildflowers.

Flight Paths — a story in 22 poems

An airman writes to his mother during the war, a mother receives a devastating telegram, a girl learns to like tomatoes, and a young boy tries to keep a piece of eggshell in his pocket. Telling a story over four generations, the 22 linked poems in Flight Paths explore how those who come before us, and those who will live after us, inhabit our lives in unexpected ways.
